The news is not new anymore, but worth a post.
The gigabytes that has come to be synonymous with greatness, haha, it was already surpassed in 2006.
Hitachi Global Storage Technologies put on the market his new record surpassing the 1TB Seagate already produced a disk with a capacity of 750GB.

Despite the apparent exclusivity, the Japanese company also Buffalo already makes a 1TB HD, as already exist in the STORAGE market with a capacity of 26PB (petabytes), or equivalent to 26.000TB 26.000.000GB, or 26 quadrillion bytes!

tera 1.000.000.000.000 de bytes Not satisfied with the technological feat, Bill Healy, Hitachi says that within a few years, the hard drives of 1TB drives can be compressed into 1-inch. Currently, traditional hard drives for PCs, mainly in Brazil, has 3.5 inches in diameter.

To get an idea of storage capacity in a terabyte can hold 2 years of mp3 music without repetition. Imagine losing 1TB of data professionals the default HD?

See Wikipedia classifications that still come around.
